Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
@Mike, sounds like a smart move on the part of AT&T.  They would know how to use and build on Yahoo's capabilities.  I would bet AT&T could win this contest.

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
It seems Iike everything's being acquired by the same 3 or 4 companies. And since the roles/significance of different technologies seems to be evolving, it becomes less about diversifying and more like taking over!

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
@faryl, good points.  It does appear to be more "ecosystems" and platforms.  That's where I believe the ability to execute and deliver better value to the customer will ultimately be the differentiator.  That's why I place my bets on AT&T.

AT&T Kicking the Tires
The FCC said is was against big business so it made all the big businesses break up into smaller companies only to let them get big again and now get even bigger. All the companies in the U.S. will be owned by just a few. This will reduce competition and increase pricing for customers as well as reduce quality customer service because most companies are greedy and are only concerned about making money not about what is best for the customer.

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
@freehe I could not agree more, it stinks that we are always forced to choose the lesser of two evils and unfortunately the free market doesn't work in most cases because if there is competition from a small company the bigger company just comes by and buys them up.

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
The bigger companies have to run scared--Please remember what happened to HP, Symantec, etc.--Anyone remember Digital, SGI, Computervision, etc.?     It is becoming more challenging--no question.

On the more immediate matter that Mike reported on and the community has commented on, I am not surprised at all--they have been partners for years so I can't help but wonder why they have not moved sooner.

May we live in interesting times indeed....

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
So very true. With competitors declining that means higher prices for us. That's the problem with big businesses. Competition is cut down so far and the prices sky rocket because of it.
