Re: Proof
I agree. The key is turning all of that info into useful action items in a short amount of time. Lost of companies can collect data, but processing it into something meaningful will really unlock big data's potential.

These types of grand, sweeping "predictions" make for good copy, and triple-digit billion-dollar markets get attention. It's kind of stating the obvious, with guessed-at numbers providing the hard evidence. But just as you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, you don't need a gigantic and arbitrary number to prove that analytics will be a growing market over the next few years.

@ms.akkineni, and that produces more insights to serve the business interests, which translates into decisions that make business more profitable and provide better service.  I think the development of the data value to now serving the business use case is where that volume in growth will be seen.

Re: Big Data Revenues
@clrmoney, agreed, the data links to more data, which makes the "connected" data more valuable.  That's what I believe will be explosive with "connectivity" (ie IoT) linking data sources and multiple data sets.  The data will have greater value when connected with other data - which is why I believe networks, ecosystems, and platforms will become key.

@mendyk, there you go - data confirms the data!  At least it will make the "hesitant" ones more secure to believe the obvious.

@Mike:

Absolutely true.

Unless data is well translated and processed adequately the purpose will not be met.
