@mhhf1ve: It certainly is a gradual process, that's for sure. I think that the dynamic here is that there is so much new stuff in 5G versus the fact that the industry is generally getting better at developing new tech. It will be interesting.

  • Arrive later than anticipated.

Did 3G, 4G, etc.. arrive "on time" as scheduled? I don't think wireless deployment has a great track record with so many flavors of it being promoted before being "accepted" as a standard protocol....

..and it is driven by what Steve Case is referring to as "The Third Wave"--listening in on a conference call that Steve Case spoke at.    It is stunning and yet fascinating at the same time!!.

The competitive pressures at hand will drive home the simple yet profound fact that it is critical for the adoption to happen--it is the "fierce urgency of now" that wouljd drive home this.   2020 is simply too late!!!

@vnewman. I agree. It seems, however, that progress is accelerating. But, as I mentioned to @ariella, that is perhaps due to the PR departments.
