Re: Amazon Prime
@JoeStanganelli, it is extremely important that the customer define their needs; otherwise the customer loses power. Our balance is best served by a customer - who is always right in knowing what they want. I fully agree. Otherwise, the customer won't have the choice to buy items that meet their needs.

Re: Amazon Prime
@JoeStanganelli, I am with you on that. The consumer is "best protected" with a pure profit motive - in that you understand the agenda and how you are best served by it or not. That's the beauty of choice and our consumer economy.
When you have political agendas the motives are more self-serving in achieving their vision of the world or agenda, and less transparent - which takes power away from the consumer.

Re: Amazon Prime
@faryl
with Doctor Who is very interesting as some series have different parts depends on the broadcaster and country... I did see in UK BBC original airing different from the Canadian Space channel when I did watch the same episode later in Canada
unless my mind was playing trick on me :)

Re: Amazon Prime
@Joe Stanganelli interesting point and I could not agree more... but Amazon and Google keep growing bigger and bigger... I'm not gonna get surprise if Amazon one day will start or just buy a political party :) as for Google for the research they gonna buy a small county one day :) - future should be interesting...

Re: Amazon Prime
@Joe Stanganelli most of the time as per my calculation is a cheaper way just to wait and get dvd set of all episodes than have a steaming services... this days even my local dollar store have HBO and History shows seasons under $3.00 during holidsays I see 007 all movies box for $79 for 24 movies on BR or son of the gun all seasons under $15...

Re: Amazon Prime
@DHagar: More importantly (and I firmly believe this), the customer may not always be right, but the customer is ALWAYS the ultimate expert on what he or she wants. -- even if he or she lacks the necessary industry expertise and/or ontology to be able to effectively communicate what it is exactly that he or she wants.
If you have a complaining customer, the customer is not wrong. The customer is pointing out that you have failed him or her in terms of his or her desires. It's up to you as a company to translate the customer's ontology to your own and find a workable solution -- lest that customer become an ex-customer.
Re: Amazon Prime
@DHagar: I will say this for Amazon, though:
Google wants to "change the world." But any entity -- especially a corporate one or other collective -- that "wants to change the world" necessarily wants to impose its own will of what the world should look like onto everyone else.
Sure, "changing the world" sounds nice and fluffy and socially responsible but there's no two ways about the fact that Google has a totalitarian agenda. The only question is whether you agree with their vision as to what the world should look like or not.
Amazon has no such lofty designs. Jeff Bezos and the rest of the company just want to make money. The only "world-changing" they're interested in is basic, everyday corporate lobbying so they can have their drones and they datacenters.
I'll trust the greedy, "just-in-it-for-the-money" corporation over the "wants to change the world" corporation any day -- especially when it comes to my data.

Re: Amazon Prime
Prime has Doctor Who now (or at least the most recent 2 series ... last season isn't free though!)
I didn't realize Hulu has it too - I need to catch up on the Capaldi episodes!
