Re: Advice
I would suggest and humbly recommend that we remain optimistic on this simply because there needs to be a concerted effort to lay out a roadmap for the future--the standards are yet to be thought through.

Re: Advice
@freehe:

That was good insight from your personal experience.

I agree that it is possible to loose sight of the original purpose and initiative if the board is too broad and huge. If the board is comprised of limited members with clear alignments there may be a good chance to have some genuine accomplishments. Just my thought.

Advice
Advisory Boards are great if they have a specific agenda and strategic plan. I have served on several IT advisory boards, boards and committees and we never got much accomplished, it was just for show for the politicians and government officials.

Hopefully they will have a diverse selection of members on the board from and include a sample from each age generation (boomers, generation x/y, etc.)

Re: video
I wondered similar.

As much as I have concerns about the issues CISA would have introduced, this particular arrangement seems like it actually benefits the customers as well.

(though maybe I haven't thought it through all the way!)

Re: video
I've seen ads for that perk of using T-Mobile. I wonder if the content providers subsidize this unlimited access.

Re: video
@elizabeth ouch, sorry to hear about your struggle with mobile data. I've seen the Verizon data warnings myself. Do the data upgrades last only until the end of the billing chuckle, or does it become a permanent add-on charged each month going forward?

Re: video
An "App Ecosystem" for TV is part and parcel of the future dynamics--the challenge as i see it with this advisory board is to figure out how to leverage it in a way that adds true value--elements of it are already there--for instance CBSN (that has a rolling 15 min update)--broke away to do live feed coverage of what happened in Baltimore with that guy in the "rabbit suite" who was threatening to blow things up.

Re: video
One can "lead a horse to the water", but one cannot force the horse to drink it.   The same analogy holds true about transformation--we can show the way and work to encourage and empower.   If people make the choice as they do, that's up to them.   I have had my share of the obnoxious--believe me.

Re: video
It does seem to be moving in that direction.

Xfinity offers their customers live viewing for some channels in addtion to their VOD, the FX iOS app offers that as well.  (Comes in handy for avoiding spoilers!!)

Re: video
@Michelle - T-Mobile recently changed their plans so that data used to stream video services specifically is unlimited.

Right now that only applies to content from certain providers (Netflix, HBO, SlingTV and a few others), but their press release about it indicated that they'd be adding more services in the future.
