I totally agree with Matt Finnie. The focus should be on integration. If you focus solely on devices you lose focus and will quickly lose your market share.  The focus should be on integration and devices, how devices can be integrated and how services can be integration on those devices.

I think that's the takeaway. For shared systems where a single standard or platform is the key to integration, there's a tipping point; something wins because once any one standard/platform/device/program/etc. becomes the clearly most widely used one, everyone else has to supply it (and after a while there's no reason to supply anything else).

And things are always most frustrating and chaotic right before we pass the tipping point, because at that moment only the strongest competitors are left in the running.

Sounds like the message is 'don't buy UC from a device manufacturer. It's a service, so get it from a network services provider.' Enterprise customers are likely to agree. But it's not the only answer.
