Re: AT&T Coming Up
Interesting read. I would have to agree that this is a new era where systems increase in complexity but also in flexibility. Networks are becoming more like electricity systems where reliability is paramount. Uptime is at a very high level these days for services, something I think a lot of people don't reflect upon how far we've come.

Re: AT&T Coming Up
It's been five weeks since Donovan unveiled ECOMP at the Open Networking Summit. He's clearly got the largest number of committed delegates (voters) over at Light Reading's Hall of Fame poll. Bigger question is how many votes these 8 million lines of code are winning in the marketplace.

Re: AT&T Coming Up
Hopefully AT&T will update us on whether it hits 30% by the end of this year. As for the LR voting, AT&T sure rallied the troops. Donovan has 4,234 votes out of the 6,567 votes cast!

Re: AT&T Coming Up
"we want to understand that there is enough interest to create a community that can be the rallying effort to bring homogeneity and standardization to the industry. That's one of reasons we are looking for feedback. To do it right you have to build community. You probably need a third party to be the integrator for the industry."

This is so true. I think it is awesome that AT&T is doing this. They recognized a problem, saw the need to make a change and developed a solution to address it.
