Re: as technology develops
@dir5288, well said.  It might be that the international competition may spur us on in our developments.  I believe the digital networks developing, cognitive computing, IoT, etc., hold great promise for us.  We won't be bored!

Re: as technology develops
Yes, I agree with you.

I think China is slowly starting to develope a stronger digital community and is becoming a competitor for sure.

I think it's exciting to see where they will go with their new advancments. More importantly though, I'm excited for our new developments!

Re: as technology develops
@mpouraryan, interesting analysis.  I believe the Chinese are seeking fast starts to becoming a competitive economy - so may be using robotics - like the example - to achieve that goal.  The Japanese with the shrinking economy and population, may be turning to to robotics as a means of providing access to goods/services where they otherwise might not be able - either as a temporary or means of service delivery.

Thankfully, we have an economy which gives us a choice.

I believe globally, robotics will be deployed for a variety of reasons - hopefully more positive and advancement of the human/machine capabilities than negative.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: as technology develops
I don't plan to--but note this is from Japan that is increasingly trying to deploy such technologies as Japan is increasingly aging and is faced with a decrease in Population.

Re: as technology develops
@mpouraryan, I have heard about the China use of robots - but am holding judgement based on the following thinking.  If robots "assist" and "augment" the human service, then they could be a good thing - Hilton hotels is adding them here in the US, etc.  So, as with everything we have been stating, if the right mix of human-technology is put together, robots can be an added value to service, not a shield.  But, it sill depend on how it is implemented and managed - as with all technology.

So don't lose faith yet!

Re: as technology develops
I was "kind of" horrified @Dhagar as I saw the story on China Daily on Softbank deploying Robots at their stores:  http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2016-03/25/content_24093339.htm

Re: as technology develops
I agree.

I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing either. I just feel like Apple is the market to beat in todays society. Also with the technolgy evolving I think Apple is only going to become more powerful and popular.

Re: as technology develops
What you noted was what the great Jim Rohn noted: "...Either you control the day or the day controls you".   It underscorse how we have to be careful as we get excited about the new gadget or new APP--what is the actual applicabliity?   At some stage, we will be "numb"...that's why a sense of simplicity is just ever so important now.

Re: as technology develops
@mouraryan, well there you go - very true - transformation is not easy.  But growing, learning, and adapting is less stressful than trying to "hold onto the deck chairs of the Titanic".  We either control things or align with them.

Technology has truly nudged people into ongoing change in an amazing way.
