People
I love how in the video he states that it's the people that make the difference. It's the people that are important. Digital is always being thrown around and, like he said, of course it's a huge part of evolving, but it's also about the people. The workers and consumers are the ones who really make the difference.

Re: Telco evolving
@clrmoney, that is a great idea.  Developing a customized and life-cycle relationship with the customers could be a distinct advantage.  We are past the utility stage, services and relationships can be a true differentiator.

I think it is a great idea and opportunity to offer customers not just some temporary service but a lifetime service or membership because we are getting evolved in technology.

@DHagar...right--if they aren't sure where to start, maybe they should listen to their customers? :) I am sure the customers have plenty of good suggestions! :)

Re: as technology develops
Writerfo10281, the customer is indeed king today.  There is so much competition that unless you can provide goods and services of value to the customer they will turn to another company.

I think this is a major mindset shift with telcos who have initially positioned themselves based on technology.  Now it has to be quality service - solving the customer's problems - and as he said in the interview, many of them do not know where to start.

Re: as technology develops
Doesn't matter what the company is, or the product, even they don't start putting customers first, they can't survive. There is just too much competition, and too many 'great' companies that we can switch too...The companies that get rave reviews from customers are the ones who survive. Who couldn't use a bit of 'positive' word-of-mouth? A great referral is excellent free advertising...

Re: as technology develops
Excellent interview. I agree, people first then technology second. Cultural challenge is a recurring theme for implementing new technologies.

Building partnerships and ecosystems is definitely a great way to gain insights, obtain knowledge and lessons learned.

Companies have to start focusing on what the customer wants using analytic data and then use that data predict what customers want in the future.

Employees have to shift their focus from technology to what the customers wants. Employees must act as if they are a customer of the company and use their own experiences as a customer of a service provider and combine that knowledge to identify what customers want or don't want.
