Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
@Mike the danger of steep competition there. You cut prices to gain market share only to have someone else play the same trick against you.

Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
Sorry I didn't get back to right away, but he did address white box networking in that other story. White box networking tips the scales towards the service provider/enterprise since they can shop for the best bargains on a quarter by quarter basis. There's the potential for a vendor to slash prices in the short term to win business, but then someone else could do the same to them the next quarter.

@Ariella:

Absolutely...

I was hoping a response from someone that had some insight. I saw a new post by Mike about White Box Networking. I will check that out soon.

@ms.akkineni you've touched on a universal truth here. The company reps have to sound very confident about the future for their tech. You get more of a reality check from speaking to pepole who don't share that agenda abotu their perception of it.

Yes, I see that Mr. Donovan seems to be very confident about the level of impact white box networking would have for service providers while the poll spoke otherwise. What is his reasoning behind his vision of massive impact?

Interesting
@Ray: Thanks for sharing the info.

Hyper Adoption and Consumer Needs appear to be the main agenda items. I would appreciate any more information about takeaways from the discussion. What were highlighted as trending consumer needs?

AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
AT&T's John Donovan gave one of the best, most insightful and most candid interviews about the transformation of communications networks I have ever heard and gave a great deal of food for thought for the other operators in the room, espceially about the importance of white box networking.
