Re: Exciting!
freehe, great examples!

It is my understanding, from several CIO's, that it will truly be "disruptive" technology, making other options appear obsolute.

Yes, technology is truly serving the customer now!

Re: Exciting!
I am super excited also! 4G is so slow. Why has it taken so long for telco to increase the speed to 5G? 5G will offer several benefits including connecting your smartphone to your laptop to get broadband access, more memory for photos, videos, and recordings. 5G will also help advance smart cities, IoT, driverless cars and more.

Samsung hopes to launch a trial 5G network in time for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. Huawei is working to implement a version for the 2018 World Cup in Moscow. The South Korea government spent $1.5 billion on upgrades for 5G.

Re: Exciting!
afwriter, I share your enthusiasm for these services.  Let's hope the model is as attractive with the pricing - maybe they can provide tiered pricing that will make accessing affordable, with "add-on" capabilities.

But AT&T really seems to be taking the right steps with their platform, their designs, their strategic investments, etc.  I predict they will be a leader with 5G and the new platforms.

They are not yet available in my area - I am waiting.  So enjoy!

Exciting!
As an AT&T customer and certified mobile fanatic I find this information to be super exciting.  Obviously it is not right around the corner, but the idea of life in 5G before 2020 goes to show how fast technology - especially in the mobile sector - is changing.

My only trepidation would be the cost of 5G from upgraded infrastructure to monthly subscriptions.  Hopefully early adapters will not have to pay an arm and a leg for the new service.
