Re: How does this fit with the trend to do away with voicemail?
This is an interesting statement and I agree. I do wonder when video will be the main source of communicating. I think for most people now texting is what gets people to communicate the most with others, but even now I can see video popping up and becoming more and more popular.

As talking on phones became overpowered by texting, I wonder if video will do the same thing.

Companies will have to develop a strategy to not just focus on millennials but all generations of consumers may of whom are tech savvy and what the same featuers as millennials. Virtual CPE is a great start. Excited to see what the future holds for enterprise voice.

Here an article on Skype for Business.

Re: How does this fit with the trend to do away with voicemail?
The generation *after* the millenials will probably have better connectivity and bandwidth -- and possibly access to AR/VR video streaming feeds? I really wonder when teleconferencing with live video is going to be a mainstream means of communication. The predictions of it have existed for many many decades now. Star Trek gave us iPads, but not practical videoconferencing.

Re: How does this fit with the trend to do away with voicemail?
@mhhf1ve  I would say it all depends on the consumers segment,,, as younger part of the segment only uses Messages vis SMS... no talking just typing back and forth...

How does this fit with the trend to do away with voicemail?
There have been several large companies saying that they're no longer using voicemail.. so it seems like voice services are changing in fundamental ways.

Considering that conference calling is still such a terrible user experience for the most part.. I wonder how enterprise voice is really adapting to Slack and other messaging platforms.

Voice Services
Good to see that Voice Services are evolving. I had an opportunity to work on a Voice Services related initiative way back in 2000 and that time was very excited to use VXML technology. But I feel that it didn't evolve as much since then. Now with advancement of cloud platform I am sure it would surely reevolve at a good pace.
