Re: Interesting
Also forgot to mention 'Security' and 'Network'. These would be two real important pieces of the puzzle. I am sure both organizations would have thought ahead and ready with all measures in those areas. I will be curious to watch out for success stories, it's not too long of wait. 2018 is not too far...

Interesting
Very interesting read.

This totally makes sense. As I read through it is even more convincing to see a major mobile company thinking about diversifying into finance domain foreseing upward trend of mobile banking. We can't deny mobile banking surely is becoming more and more common as we go along. It is even more sensible thinking about Orange's approach of partnership with Groupama. Very strategic move i would say, all financial regualations, policies, procedures etc., are all taken care of. So all Orange would focus is on how effciicently to execute the whole coordination rather than reinventing wheels in banking. Very impressive all together.

Re: New services?
With everyone being able to do their banking from their phone and use e-payments, etc., this move totally makes sense. One only has to look to Africa for success stories. A few years ago, mobile banking and mobile money was a really hot topic and comms shows in Africa always had a least a panel or two on the topic, but it had kind of fallen off the radar for a while. Maybe this means it's back!

Re: New services?
@imorris true, even traditional bricks-and-mortar banks offer a lot of mobiles services, including deposits now. The only thing they tend to still be rather slow on is cleaning transactions from outside the country -- even when they are made in US dollars. Working on that end could be very appealing to businesses that have locations in different countries.

New services?
It'll be interesting to see what kinds of new service materialize as a result of this banking move. We've already seen traditional banking-sector players launch mobile applications so Orange may be under pressure to do something a lot more sophisticated to really differentiate itself and stand out in the market

Interesting. I wonder if Orange will need to make any changes in its network to enable secure banking? I've heard that some financial institutes here in the U.S. are using OpenStack to provision their services.
