Seen & Heard: Apple's CEO Cook Says Apps Are the Future of TVApple CEO Tim Cook believes that apps are the future of TV, and that his company can play a key role in the world of entertainment. Cook spoke at the Startup Fest Europe in Amsterdam on Tuesday, according to a story by CNBC . Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) added software updates to its Apple TV two months ago, but despite the company's best efforts, it hasn't been able to revolutionize the video ecosystem the way it transformed online music. Rumors have persisted that Apple plans to launch its own subscription-based streaming service, but Cook didn't go into any details on what Apple's next step would be. Cook did, however, reiterate Apple's desire to be a prime-time player in the entertainment space. "We have launched our new Apple TV product, but it is clear to us as we pull that string that there is a lot left to do, and we would like to be a catalyst at changing the world of entertainment," Cook said, according to CNBC. Cook reportedly also remarked on the Apple Watch at Startup Fest Europe, noting that it could play an "enormous" role in the healthcare system.
